The Heroes of Olympus
By: Rick Riordan
The Heroes of Olympus series kicks off with The Lost Hero, which takes place months after Percy Jackson's finale, The Last Olympian, but this time it's not Percy, Annabeth and Grover who are the heroes. This time we have some new demigods to follow. Jason wakes up on a school bus bound for the Grand Canyon with no idea who he is. There is a girl named Piper who is always at his side, claiming to be his girlfriend. And, of course, there's his alleged best friend Leo. Pretty soon, the three are under attack by ravenous storm spirits and barely escape with their lives. The question I chose to answer was a Evaluation one, Why would specific groups of people like or dislike this book? Fans of the Percy Jackson series and Greek mythology will love this book, particularly because it includes as much references to the Greek world of monsters and gods as it did in the first series. We do get to see the return of many of the classic characters, such as Annabeth Chase, Chiron, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, but, as mentioned in the conclusion of The Last Olympian, cabins for the minor gods have been erected at Camp Half-Blood, so we see many new characters as well. Jason, Piper and Leo are the perfect protagonists for an Olympians series. With romance blossoming between Jason and Piper, the three bring the story from surprising twists all the way to dark secrets in a brilliant way.
